Help in getting started? Advice? Information?

Good Afternoon,

Name is Rob and we're located in Quesnel, BC. We are just getting started in the wonderful sport of Drag Racing (We are currently involved in the sport of Mud Racing) and I have a few questions that I am hoping some of you can answer, or point us in the right direction....

First thing I learned... Plans change... <grin>
My boys, age 10 and 13 have now expressed a definate interest in Drag Racing. Up until our visit to the track this past weekend, they were excited about helping me build our car, now that they have had a small taste of Jr Dragster.... I'm being hounded to look into what it takes to start racing in that class for them?

So.. .My first question is for the Junior Dragster crowd....

How does one get started? Does anyone have any OLDER, beginner type Jr Dragster cars that are reasonable and for sale? Even if I need to buy components seperately, older rolling chassis, etc... Cars needing repairs or work are welcomed as well as we can piece them back together.... If anyone has any leads or information, that would be great... I'm thinking very basic... regular 5hp B&S, older style chassis, etc, etc... very begginer stuff...

Second Question... My current build is a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500... I am hoping to be running a 428CJ, Ford 9", etc, etc... Car is gutted, build is right at step one... So I don;t plan on being ready till at least next season... What would be a good starting class forthis type of car? To start, it will have no power adders, all motor, no electronics, no trans brake, etc, etc... very basic to start... It will not be street legal and will be trailered to races, so does that limit the class I can enter? Do I need ot put a cage in right away? Plans are to build one immediatley, with the future of more power in mind....

When the build is complete How /where do I get the car inspected.... I assume that any new car has to be gone over completely before just showing up and racing?

Thanks in advance... We appreciate any and all advice as we are completely new to this sport....

Rob,

Second Question First - Probably Sportsman (12.20 and Slower)

First Question - Look in our for sale forum, there is literally Anything you might want for a Jr. Digger in there, and Literally for any budget.

You can Contact Ray Bollinger and/ Or Kevin Clarke, they both will help you find the information you need.

If you are going build a roll cage be sure to build it according to the rules. They can be found here [www.ahradragracing.com]

One would probably want to build to NHRA specs that way you wouldn't have any suprises if you decided to go to a NHRA sanctioned track.
